Six Most Expensive Dogs in the World
Tibetan Mastiff
Price Tag: $10,000 to 1.9 million (USD)
Originally bred to protect livestock from wild predators, Tibetan Mastiffs are now symbols of wealth among the ultra-rich. In 2014, a Chinese millionaire purchased a Tibetan Mastiff for a whopping 1.9 million, making it the most expensive dog in the world. The hefty price tag is in part due to their rarity and also due to the media hype surrounding this breed. Boy oh boy! Aren’t they expensive?
You may also be wondering about the temperament of a Mastiff. Well, I can say looks are deceiving with this particular breed because when you overlook the tough exterior, the Mastiff is nothing but a gentle giant. In fact, the Tibetan Terrier thrives as a companion dog, and they’re known to be extremely devoted and loyal to their families. However, if you are not a family member, the Tibetan Mastiff can turn into a ferocious territorial defender! Be sure to behave around a Mastiff because if you make a wrong move, you might bear the wrath of the lion-looking warrior.
Samoyed
Price: $3500 – $10,000 (USD)
Samoyed is one of the most expensive breeds out there because of the rarity. You probably know by now that rarity is accompanied by expensive price tags. With that being said, Samoyed is one of my favorite breeds. They are often described as fluffy snow angels with a graceful smile. Their trademark white double coats allow them to thrive under extreme weather conditions in their native Siberia. So, If you are looking to welcome a Samoyed into your family, you better bring on the ice!
Samoyeds are also people-pleasers and natural athletes. Due to their cooperative nature and athleticism, they were selected to be sled dogs in Siberia. With exceptional physical stamina, they are better off with owners that are physically active. If a Samoyed is bored and presented with an opportunity to escape, they will pull a Houdini and happily wander off without you. Be sure to secure your fence to prevent this master escape artist from leaving your sight.
English Bulldog
Price: $3500 – $20,000 (USD)
The Chubby charmer is another expensive dog breed. They are calm, gentle, and lazy. They do not like to exercise and can easily become obese if they indulge in food without burning off the extra calories. Now, we know the English Bulldog is expensive, but did you know their vet bills are very high? The English Bulldogs have long been considered as a breed prone to many health issues. So, it’s important to do your research before you make the decision. You can find out more information about the English Bulldog here.
Chow Chow
Price: $2000 – $5000
Chow Chow is another rare breed which means they are on the expensive side of the spectrum. This particular breed is loyal, independent, stubborn, and aloof. They have a mind of their own. Hence, they cannot be trained easily. To train a Chow Chow, consistent repetition during puppy-hood is strongly recommended.
Chow chow is typically a one-owner-type-of dog. They tend to form a strong bond with their favorite person and keep their distance from others in the same household. Don’t be offended if a Chow Chow does not warm up to you because it’s not you, it’s them. A very important thing to keep in mind for future Chow Chow owners is that Chow chows are wary of strangers, so be sure to do early socialization and train them to become more receptive to others. Golden Doodle
Price: $3000-$5000
This designer dog breed is expensive for very good reasons. They are cute, fun-loving, and easily trainable. In other words, a golden doodle is the whole package with a charming look of a poodle and the intelligence of a golden retriever. It is no wonder why Doodles’ price is increasing.
Doodles are affection dogs who love to be around humans. They are quick learners. So, challenge them on a daily basis! It’s a very rewarding experience.
Dogo Argentino
Price: $2800-$5000
Dogo Argentinos are athletic hunting dogs. They are fast, powerful, and smart which means they demand tons of mental stimulation and exercise from their owners. If you wish to own this magnificent breed, you might be out of luck because the Dogo Argentino is banned in many parts of the United States due to its potential for aggression.
